

Alan H. Walker & Deborah A. Walker Scholarship Now Accepting Applications for 2025
Sayre, PA – The Community Foundation for the Twin Tiers (CFTT) is proud to announce that
applications are now open for the Alan H. Walker and Deborah A. Walker Scholarship, a
tribute to the extraordinary relationship Alan shared with his caregivers and a commitment to
supporting the next generation of compassionate medical professionals.
Established in honor of Alan H. Walker’s legacy of leadership, service, and community
commitment, this scholarship is designed to provide financial assistance to deserving students
who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership potential, and a dedication to making a
difference in their communities.
This scholarship aims to assist students who have demonstrated resilience, hard work, and an
unwavering dedication to caring for others. It is designed for individuals who exemplify
empathy, compassion, and determination in their pursuit of a career in the medical field. By
providing financial support to those advancing their nursing education, this scholarship not only
fosters professional growth but also honors the tireless efforts of nurses who made a profound
impact on Alan’s life.
“Alan and Deborah firmly believed that the caregivers who dedicate their lives to this profession
are extraordinary individuals,” said a representative from CFTT. “It is their honor to assist future
nurses who share the same passion and commitment to patient care.”
Scholarship Eligibility Criteria:
• Must be a current Care Partner/Tech or Nurse at Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre, PA
Campus for at least one year.
• Accepted into an accredited college, university or technical school pursuing education as
an LPN, ADN, BSN, Accelerated RN Program, MSN, PHD programs or specialized
certifications.
• Applicant must have demonstrated financial need. Please submit either a FAFSA or a
state income tax return and any other applicable documentation to show the need.
• Complete an essay (250-500 words, double spaced) about what compassionate care
means to you and how you incorporate it in your current practice.
All applications must be submitted via email (Word or PDF format) to
jallenelford@twintierscf.org no later than Monday, May 12, 2025, by 5:00 PM. Alternatively,
applications can be mailed to Community Foundation for the Twin Tiers, 104 W. Lockhart
St, Sayre, PA 18840, postmarked no later than March 31, 2025, for consideration in the Fall
2025 semester.
For those wishing to honor Alan H. Walker’s memory with a gift, contributions can be sent to
the Community Foundation for the Twin Tiers at 401 W. Lockhart Street, Sayre, PA 18840.
Please make checks payable to the Community Foundation for the Twin Tiers and include
“Alan H. Walker and Deborah A. Walker Scholarship” in the memo line.

About the Community Foundation for the Twin Tiers

Counties in Pennsylvania and Tioga County, NY. It is a purely public charity, incorporated as a

many individual citizens, corporations, other foundations, other charitable organizations, and
government agencies for philanthropic purposes. As the endowment funds grow, the earnings
from these funds are used to make grants to meet identified community needs or fulfill the desire
of the donor. Donors can even make recommendations to the Community Foundation of
charitable organizations to receive grants.
Founded in 2003, the Community Foundation for the Twin Tiers serves 5 counties, Bradford,
Potter, Sullivan and Tioga County, PA and Tioga County, New York. The Foundation is
committed to building philanthropic resources that will sustain healthy and vital communities
now and into the future. The Foundation currently manages over 160 funds valued at $14.5
million dollars and has awarded over $2.3 million in grants and scholarships since inception,
positively impacting hundreds of lives in the region.
