Community Foundation for the Twin Tiers Announces New Scholarship for Graduating Athens Area High School Students

Sayre, PA—The family of Karen Eltringham has partnered with the Community Foundation for the Twin Tiers and established the Karen Eltringham Excellence in Nursing Scholarship that recognizes Karen’s lifelong commitment, compassion and empathy in the nursing profession.

Karen Eltringham, a beloved long-time resident of Athens, PA, dedicated her life to caring for others with unparalleled compassion and empathy. A proud graduate of the Robert Packer School of Nursing in 1981, Karen spent 43 years serving patients and the community as an ICU and Cardiac Cath Lab nurse.

Her unwavering dedication and fierce advocacy for her patients earned her the admiration and respect of all who knew her. Karen’s love for her family was boundless, and she cherished every moment spent with her husband, children, and grandchildren. Deeply committed to her community, Karen’s caring nature extended far beyond her profession, touching countless lives with her kindness and generosity.

In memory of Karen Eltringham’s unwavering dedication and compassion, this nursing scholarship has been established to assist aspiring nurses from Athens Area High School who share her commitment to patient care, compassion and empathy. Applications are available in the Athen Area High School guidance office.

The Community Foundation for the Twin Tiers serves Bradford, Potter, Sullivan, and Tioga Counties in Pennsylvania and Tioga County, NY. It is a purely public charity, incorporated as a non-profit, that has been granted 501(c)(3) status by the IRS.

The Foundation currently manages over 160 funds valued at $14.5 million dollars and has awarded over $2.3 million in grants and scholarships since inception, positively impacting hundreds of lives in the region.
