Sandy Campbell Awarded the 2025 Bill and Sarah Ransom Award

Nov 26, 2025

Sayre, PA – The Community Foundation for the Twin Tiers (CFTT) and the Waverly Rotary
Club proudly announce Sandy Campbell as the recipient of the 2025 Bill and Sarah Ransom
Community Service Award. This prestigious award celebrates individuals who demonstrate
exceptional dedication to community service, leadership, and an unwavering commitment to the
Valley community.

Sandy, a retired Sayre High School science teacher and long-serving member of the Army with
over 19 years of service, has become the heart of the Sayre Salvation Army. Her steady, humble
leadership and extraordinary generosity keep its operations running smoothly and
compassionately.

A daily volunteer at the Salvation Army pantry, Sandy does whatever is needed, from organizing
orders to picking up and delivering food. She quietly ensures that every person is treated with
dignity, warmth, and respect. She arrives each day ready to prepare food, organize supplies,
assist families, and support her fellow volunteers.

Sandy’s impact goes far beyond the countless hours she volunteers. Over the past year, she
helped prepare and serve 4,809 meals through Senior Group meals and soup kitchen programs,
supported more than 800 families by organizing, ordering, and distributing food through the
pantry, and assisted with holiday food distribution for 821 individuals.

Sandy is a driving force in holiday operations as well, volunteering for Christmas in July and
bell-ringing efforts that help raise unrestricted funds for local programs. Beyond her service to
the community, Sandy is also a caretaker for her sister and remains committed to her own well
being by staying active. Through it all, she remains humble, never seeking recognition. She
simply believes in helping others, and she does so with deep compassion. In recognition of this
honor, Sandy selected the Sayre Salvation Army to receive the accompanying $800 donation.
CFTT and the Waverly Rotary Club extend heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributes to the
Bill and Sarah Ransom Community Service Award Fund. Their support helps shine a light on
inspiring individuals like Sandy Campbell, whose selfless dedication strengthens and uplifts the
entire Valley community.
